I stumbled on this article in Wikipedia that says Jimi Hendrix named Phil Keaggy as the best guitar player in the world. That is a rumor. No one can prove that he actually said that. But if you see this video, you might believe that might be actually true. I just could not believe my eyes to see what he can do with his guitar. If you don't know him and never heard of him before, you have been missing out. He is just amazing. Enjoy!
Long time no post!. I was playing around with my new POD X3 Live a lot and I am enjoying every minute with it. Here is another simple power chord progression on key of E. I picked "You Are Holy" (Prince of Peace) as an example. This song really took off when Michael W. Smith sang in his worship album. Please log in to download the chord sheet.
Here is the chord chart. Just practice these chords over and over again. Enjoy!
I want to introduce a song that has been working in my heart. Ben Cantelon is a worship leader for Soul Survivor in England. Love Came Down is easy to sing and people loves to sing because it builds up very nicely to the chorus with meaningful lyrics.
My favorite part is the chorus.
I've found a love greater than life itself I've found a hope stronger and nothing compares I once was lost, now I'm alive in You

Love Came Down Ben Cantelon
When I call on Your name, You answer When I fall, You are there by my side You delivered me out of darkness Now I stand in the hope of new life (x2)
[Pre-Chorus] By grace I'm free, You've rescued me All I am is Yours
[Chorus] I've found a love greater than life itself I've found a hope stronger and nothing compares I once was lost, now I'm alive in You
[Verse 2] You're my God and my firm foundation It is You whom I'll trust at all times I give glory and praise, adoration To my Saviour who's seated on high
[Bridge] Love came down and rescued me I thank You, I thank You I once was blind, but now I see I see You, I see You
I finally had time to look back on the event. I was very impressed by the power of Holy Spirit during the event. Francis Chan's message on Acts about being bold with the power of Holy Spirit inside us was very challenging.
Brenton Brown on Saturday was just amazing. He is an amazing song writer. His tips on song writing were very practical and encouraging.
Tim's session about band dynamics were just pure fun. He demoed how different groove can change the song by changing his "Happy Day" to Reggae, Jazz, Country, and Nashville groove. Input from each band members were very helpful too.
I am coming back next year for sure. What I like about this event is that it is cozy enough that I can be intimate with band and God. Thanks Tim, Al and Worship Central and Rock Harbor Church for hosting!
Songs that touched my heart during this event were... 1. When I Survey (Tim's Version) 2. Breath 3. I Stand Amazed in the Presence 4. Jesus Saves (I think this is the next "Happy Day")

Phil Wickham has the "singlaong" album for free download at this website, http://philwickham.com/
I was browsing through my iPod and landed at this album. I was very impressed by how people singalong with him with such passion. It sounds like an acoustic guitar is the only instrument in this album. It reminded me of how we "singalong" together at Friday Bible Study with guitar during my college days.
Here is a video of him introducing "singalong"
And here is a video of my favorite song in the album, "Cannons"
I was trying to figure out how to best play this song. Since my approach is always how to play the simplest way, I had to figure out the power chords to start with. It turns out it was indeed very simple and sounded good. I think anyone can play this song. It is the same chord progression over and over again and I thought it is an excellent power chords practice song. We sing this song in A, which seems work well with our congregation. I attached the chord sheet below. This is a good starting point and you can build the song upon these power chords. Let me know how it goes!
Here is the chord chart. Just repeat these chords over and over again. Enjoy!

I stumbled upon this video seminar from Bob Kauflin from Sovereign Grace Ministry. He makes a lot of sense about leading worship and band dynamics. It taught me some good insights for each instruments and their parts and contribution to a band. He illustrates this with some examples. It was once again a good reminder what is really important in leading worship. Some of his points were as follows. I liked his second point the best. I like his emphasis on simplicity.
1. Listen to others as much as yourself 2. Content is the king everything serves the lyrics 3. Less is More, learn the beauty of playing nothing 4. Play a part not the chart, think about how to make the part memorable

Today Is The Day Lincoln Brewster and Paul Baloche
I'm casting my cares aside I'm leaving my past behind I'm setting my heart and mind on You Jesus I'm reaching my hand to Yours Believing there's so much more Knowing that all You have in store for me is good
Today is the day You have made I will rejoice and be glad in it Today is the day You have made I will rejoice and be glad in it I won’t worry about tomorrow I’m trusting in what You say Today is the day
I'm putting my fears aside I'm leaving my doubts behind I'm giving my hopes and dreams to You Jesus I'm reaching my hands to Yours Believing there's so much more Knowing that all You have in store for me is good
Today is the day You have made I will rejoice and be glad in it Today is the day You have made I will rejoice and be glad in it I won’t worry about tomorrow I’m giving You my fears and sorrows Where you lead me I will follow I’m trusting in what You say Today is the day
I will stand upon your truth All my days I'll live for You I will stand upon your truth All my days I'll live for You All my days I'll live
Today is the day You have made I will rejoice and be glad in it Today is the day You have made I will rejoice and be glad in it I won’t worry about tomorrow I’m giving You my fears and sorrows Where you lead me I will follow I’m trusting in what You say Today is the day
